Puppy Socialization Class
The window closes faster than you think. Let’s use it well.
Give Your Puppy The Best Start In Life
You didn’t get a puppy so you could spend the next decade managing a dog who’s afraid of strangers, reactive on leash, or impossible to take anywhere. You got a puppy because you wanted a dog you could actually live with.
Here’s the thing: the behaviors that make life hard, like barking, pulling, fear, and reactivity, don’t usually come out of nowhere. They develop quietly during the weeks you had no idea were the most important.
Between 8 and 16 weeks, your puppy’s brain is doing something it will never do again. Every new experience, every gentle introduction, every moment of “that was okay, actually” is wiring their nervous system for life. Our 6-week Puppy Socialization Class in Lynnwood is built around that window to help your puppy meet the world with confidence instead of anxiety, and to help you understand what you’re doing and why it works.
Serving families across Snohomish County, this class addresses:
- Socialization with people, dogs, sounds, and new environments
- Early manners like recall, polite greetings, and vet-visit handling
- Preventing fear, reactivity, and behavior problems before they take root
Spots go fast — and so does this window.

What You’ll Learn Together
Six weeks. Six chances to practice skills that matter for real life, not just in the training room, but at the vet, on the trail, at the neighbor’s house, and everywhere in between. Every session is structured, instructor-led, and grounded in force-free methods that protect your puppy’s emotional well-being while building the behaviors you actually need.
Here’s what you and your puppy will work on together:
- Healthy Play & Recall: Safe, structured puppy play with polite interruptions and a reliable recall that means coming to you is always worth it.
- Handling & Cooperative Care: Gentle, consent-based practice with paws, ears, and mouths so vet visits and grooming feel safe, not scary.
- People Skills: Relaxed introductions to a variety of people, outfits, and props, building the confidence to take your dog anywhere.
- Sounds & Surfaces: Gradual exposure to real-world noises and textures that builds resilience instead of fear.
- Sharing & Self-Control: Leave it, trade games, and food bowl exercises that lay the groundwork for impulse control and prevent resource guarding.
- Life Skills: Loose leash foundations, polite greetings, mat settle, and calm behavior in public settings, the everyday stuff that makes life easier.
- Graduation Day: A circuit review, trick training, and celebration, plus a clear path forward into PDA Level 1 Foundations, the next step in your dog’s training journey.

Why Puppy Socialization Matters
There’s a reason this window is called critical. Between 8 and 16 weeks, your puppy is learning what the world is… what’s safe, what’s scary, what they can handle. What they don’t encounter now, they often struggle with later.
Skipping socialization doesn’t mean nothing happens. It means the world stays unknown and unknown things become threats.
The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB) is clear on this: behavioral issues, not infectious diseases, are the greatest threat to dogs’ wellbeing. They recommend well-run socialization classes precisely because of how much is at stake during this window.
Here’s what early, intentional socialization does:
-
- Prevents Fear & Reactivity: By building positive, graduated associations before the fearful response can form.
- Builds Resilience: So when something unexpected happens, your puppy recovers instead of shutting down.
- Lays Everyday Foundations: Leash manners, recall, polite greetings, and handling, the skills that make real life smoother.
- Empowers Guardians: Learn to read your puppy’s body language and respond in ways that build trust rather than erode it.
This class is also the first step in a structured training pathway: Puppy Socialization → PDA Level 1 Foundations. Starting here means your dog enters every next stage with confidence, social skills, and a solid foundation to build on.
